The Design Director leaves his post after four years at the helm...
It's official. Maison Schiaparelli has announced the departure of their Design Director, Bertrand Guyon, over the weekend. "The Schiaparelli house is grateful to Bertrand Guyon for his contribution to the haute couture activity of the house, in close collaboration with the creative studio and the atelier of the Place Vendôme house," the company said in a statement.
Bertrand Guyon, who made his Schiaparelli debut with a haute couture collection for Fall 2015, has exited after four years at the creative helm. However, his departure is rather unexpected as he was responsible for the brand’s high-end, ready-to-wear collections. Plus, Schiaparelli's couture division was his main focus too – and his contributions were anything but satisfactory.
Known for his fascination of founder Elsa Schiaparelli, Bertrand continued to explore her obsessions (including astrological signs and flowers) and would inject them into his own designs for the brand. His theatrical designs have won the likes of a slew of celebrities, too.
There's no word yet on where Bertrand is headed next, or who will take his place at Schiaparelli. Make sure to watch this space.
