Whilst Ralph Lauren is synonymous with red carpet-worthy silhouettes, American-inspired staples and the best homeware pieces, the eponymous label is also heavily involved in environmental and philanthropic initiatives – including its own, the Pink Pony Fund.

Practicing what they preach, the team at Ralph Lauren have reimagined their iconic polo shirt with mother nature in mind.

Ahead of Earth Day on April 22, the American brand have introduced the earth polo – a piece made entirely from thread acquired from recycled plastic bottles.

Available in four colourways: green, white, navy and light blue (each dyed in an innovative process that uses zero water), each earth polo is made from 12 plastic bottles (on average), and will continue the brand's approach to sustainability.

"Ralph Lauren will commit to removing at least 170 million bottles from landfills and oceans by 2025," said David Lauren, chief innovation officer. "Plastic waste is a major issue threatening the environment. We want to be part of the solution and utilise an innovative approach to create something valuable."

Produced in partnership with First Mile (an organisation with a global mission focused on sustainability and positive social impact), the earth polo is now available for both men and women in global retail stores and on RalphLauren.com.
