Julie de Libran and Sonia Rykiel have officially gone their separate ways, but it wasn't a quiet parting...
Last year, Sonia Rykiel celebrated their 50th anniversary with a spectacle to remember. Julie de Libran delivered a collection filled with stripes and striking silhouettes that were inspired by all of the women who have been involved in the brand.
However now, it seems like Julie de Libran's relationship with the French fashion brand has come to an end.
News emerged that de Libran exited her post as Artistic Director after five years at the helm. Although, she's not leaving quietly.
According to the Business of Fashion, de Libran has announced that the company has refused to honour her contract, which ends in 2020. Also, the designer alleged that the company announced her departure without her input. "We haven't succeeded in reaching an agreement," de Libran told BoF. "They weren't respecting my contract and asked me to go on Monday. I found myself with my boxes in the street: the American way."
What does this mean for the French designer? Whatever her next moves are, we’ll be watching closely.
The identity of Libran's successor has not yet been revealed, too. Make sure to watch this space.
