Georges Hobeika presents a love letter to the Arab world for the Maison's SS24 Haute Couture collection. In a first for the Maison, the collection is inspired by the Arab world, the beauty and vibrance of Middle Eastern women and the glamour of 1960s Beirut.
For Lebanese co-creative directors Georges and Jad Hobeika, the collection is an ode to the women and culture that nurtured them and melds nostalgia with the compassion and warmth of the Arab spirit. For instance, the coffee cup is reinterpreted as an earring while details from childhood memories including a treasured garden and backgammon board appear in intricate embroideries. Tapestries and rugs are remembered through dresses and skirts, wrapping the body in reference to the modesty of the region. On the other end of the sartorial spectrum, however, translucent garments accentuated with tulle appear to be crafted from glass, hugging the body and offering the illusion of a floating gown.
