While at the helm of Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri has built meaningful relationships with plenty of creatives, from world-renowned artists that transform the show scenography to artisans contributing to collections. For Dior's Autumn 2023 collection, the creative director continues her long-term collaboration with the Chanakya School of Craft, blending the savoir-faire of the Indian artisans with that of the Maison, revealing the collection at the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
The Chanakya School of Craft is an empowering institution in Mumbai, India, that harnesses the talents of female artisans. Maria Grazia Chiuri has built a relationship with Karishma Swali, the school's director, and marries their influences for the autumn offerings. Archival Dior designs created by then-artistic director Marc Bohan meet sari-inspired silhouettes splashed with technicolour embroideries. Elsewhere, billowing silks inject a carefree lightness while a reinvigorated toile de Jouy carries Dior tradition into a brand-new season. Rewatch the show here.
