The 2023 Met Gala took place on May 1st and was a spectacular affair honouring Karl Lagerfeld, the late designer best known for helming Chanel from 1983 until his death in 2019. In-keeping with the official dress code 'In Honour of Karl,' plenty of celebrities attended dressed in Chanel, some paying tribute to their long-standing relationships with the Maison.
Nicole Kidman re-wore a dress from a 2004 Chanel No5 advertising campaign; made of pink silk tulle and embroidered with 250 pink feathers, the gown also features over 3,000 sequins and crystals and a four-metre-long train. Co-chairs Penélope Cruz and Dua Lipa wore archival pieces from the Haute Couture spring/summer 1988 collection and Haute Couture autumn/winter 1992 collections respectively.
