May 2023 Editor’s Letter: Heat Wave

3 min read

The year continues to move at lightning speeds, landing us in the beginnings of a summer heat wave. MOJEH editor-in-chief Mojeh Izadpanah shares how she’ll be staying cool this May

As the heatwave sweeps through the region, there’s a palpable anticipation in the air. Our skin may be drying out from the incessant air conditioning, but our spirits are lifted at the thought of long days spent soaking up the sun.

The May issue is a roadmap to navigating the remnants of spring

So what does that mean for May? The last few weekends cool enough to lounge beach and pool side; the final al fresco evenings sitting pretty on our favourite terraces; a change in skincare routine to out-smart the sweat; and of course, a wardrobe to match. In our cover shoot, Richard Mille takes to the sea with its remarkable timepieces, fit for some of the world’s most successful sportswomen and stylish to boot. Dressed down for day or dialled-up for night, this is haute horology at its finest. In the fashion shoot Higher Plane we hit windswept beaches armed with swimsuits, sheer and svelte dresses (take your pick), and a colour palette that’s all at once earthy and gilded. For the all-important finishing touches, look to Chanel Beauty’s latest nail polish collection, replete with nail art, because what better way is there to add a little attitude to your barely-there summer wardrobe?

For those looking to stay cool indoors, our interior focus explores the biophilic trend, which brings the lush greenery and sweeping fauna inside. Floor-to-ceiling windows serve as a gateway to the outdoors, letting in natural light and fresh air even during a heatwave. So grab your cool drink, embrace the heatwave, and enjoy the ride – we’ll be with you every step of the way.
