So far, we've learnt two lessons from the red carpet extravaganza at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. First, spring fever has officially hit the French Riviera, and second, A-listers and their stylists have been keeping a close eye on the runway trends. We've spotted stylish actresses and models donning glamourous translations of trending runway favourites such as the "naked" second-skin dress, sultry plunging silhouettes and the colour of the year: Lilac. We break down the best looks of the opulent festival.

Take The Plunge

Plunging necklines were an eye-catching trend on the red carpet thanks to Kendall Jenner’s Atelier Versace, Julianne Moore’s Alexander McQueen and Doutzen Kroes’ Brandon Maxwell.

The”Naked” Dress

The illusion (or “naked”) dress trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, as A-list starlets such as Aishwarya Rai, Jessica Chastain and Bella Hadid rocked the barely-there trend to a T.

Floral Fever

From bright botanicals to subdued floral patterns, the blossoming prints reigned on the red carpet, from old school elegance evoking Rebecca Hall in Christian Dior to bright neon floral embellishments seen on Cheyl Cole’s Naeem Khan.

Ultra Lilacs

The sweetness and elegance of lilac tones are making their way into a variety of red carpet numbers including Naomi Watts’ elegant Armani Privé and German actress Emilia Schuele’s Marina Hoermanseder dress complete with patent leather corsetry and embellishments.
