Emirati label Azzalia has your Eid wardrobe sorted with a kaleidoscopic capsule
Luxurious Emirati label Azzalia has released a joyful Ramadan collection bursting with vibrant hues and striking silhouettes. Founded by Sheikha Amal Al Maktoum, who also serves as Azzalia’s creative director, the label specialises in couture abayas, gowns, kaftans and ready-to-wear expertly crafted with impeccable detail and exquisite embroidery. Azzalia combines the names of Sheikha Amal’s daughters, Azza and Alia, and references the resilient and beautiful Azalea flower. In keeping with the flora theme, its three key collections are Iris for haute couture creations; Lily for customisable ready-to-wear; and Daisy for casual wear.
Dubbed Kazu, the Ramadan capsule collection highlights a motif inspired by the shape of a cashew, known as Kazu or paisley, which has long been associated with traditional South Asian garments. “[My grandmother] sourced fabrics from all over the world, especially India, and the Kazu motif was a recurrent theme on these gorgeous textiles,” explains Sheikha Amal. Distributed across Azzalia’s key lines, the pieces come in an array of electrifying hues – think mango, fuchsia and strawberry – as well as never-boring neutrals and head-to-toe prints.
Fusing silhouettes from East and West, Kazu comprises thirty versatile pieces including backless gowns, intricately embroidered abayas, two-tone jumpsuits and one-shoulder dresses, catering to every woman and every occasion.
Speaking on the sumptuous fabrics used for the Kazu collection, Sheikha Amal says: “We have used a variety of fabrics for our Daisy line including pure cottons, printed rayons, and soft silks, whereas our Lily line was exclusively focused on silks to create loose mariposa cuts, one-shoulder dresses, and beautiful gathers that add volume, oomph, and elegant movement in each of the pieces.” Shop now
