From Chloé to Burberry, these are the capsule collections honouring the Lunar New Year…
To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, which takes place on January 25, fashion brands have created limited-edition capsule collections which honour 2020’s Year of the Rat. Whether inspired by the rodent or the lucky colour red, each collection features festive apparel and accessories to gift, wear or buy as keepsake to remember the occasion.
Louis Vuitton, Chloé and Moynat created capsules that incorporate the celebrated rat, with adorable rodent-inspired luggage tags, mini bags and keyrings. But, Gucci’s Lunar New Year collection pays homage to the most famous rodent of all, Mickey Mouse, with jumpers, jewellery and bags featuring the iconic character. Whilst, Kate Spade and Etro also called upon a familiar character; mouse Jerry, from the famed cartoon Tom and Jerry.
Covetable Lunar New Year capsules also come from Burberry and Valentino, with bold red collections that use China’s fortune-favoured hue; from classic bags in ruby and rose, to blouses and suits in crimson and garnet. Finally, for Dior’s Chinese New Year collection, the house looked to the rising phoenix and red floral motifs which are accented with beading and gold finishes and spread across the classic Saddle Bag and Lady Dior, as well as eyewear, shoes and scarves.
