Known for his slick, edgy eveningwear and never without a killer black dress in his namesake line, Anthony Vaccarello was destined to design for Versus Versace. Donatella Versace’s latest protégé created a SS15 capsule collection for the brand last year. It was a collection that was intended to capture the heady spirit of the nineties – a time when Versus was beloved by the ‘cool girl, the cool guy, the rock and roll one,’ says Donatella. Reviving the infamous safety pin dress and sending a stream of cutout dresses and plunging necklines down the runway, the formula was a hit and Vaccarello is now a permanent fixture at the brand as Creative Director (following in the footsteps of similarly bright young things Christopher Kane and JW Anderson).
