1. The red, white and blue

Lacoste

Where many try (and ultimately fail) to create patriotic fashion, Felipe Oliveira Baptista threw caution to the wind and simply included all the flags he could source for his spring/summer Lacoste collection. The French-founded brand will be dressing the Olympic delegation come Rio 2016, which Baptista aptly paid homage to alongside the red, white and blue of the American stars and stripes.

2. SoulCal Shine

Tibi

The bermuda short has cropped up again on the fashion radar this season, much to the disdain of worried style mavens. Luckily Tibi‘s Amy Smilovic, inspired by her exotic trips to the shores of Malibu and Miami, made a legitimate case for the summer staple in runway ready lamé. Transitioning the style from beachwear appropriate to an ideal skirt alternative for cocktail hour.

3. Viva Espadrille!

Altuzarra

Joseph Altuzarra may be known for his signature thigh-split silhouettes, but the designer proposed a new covetable aesthetic in his spring/summer 2016 collection – the hybrid espadrille heel. Altuzarra looked to 1930s Spain and conjured a shoe unlike any other, criss-cross straps and canvas body et al.

4. Face Armour

Dion Lee

It’s all about showcasing your love affair with jewellery for the world to see, which might explain why Dion Lee decided to equip his models with delicate face adornments on the runway of his spring/summer 2016 collection. We’ve witnessed this trend already from Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, so expect to see more weird and wonderful face jewels over the coming weeks.

5. A white shirt update

Victoria Beckham

There’s a new cover up for spring and it arrives in the shape of Victoria Beckham‘s supple suede t-shirt harness in statement vermilion. Part waistcoat part vest, it’s an easy piece to update a much loved staple white shirt.

6. Statement Earrings

Yes, statement earrings are back thanks to Derek Lam, who showcased a vibrant mix of enamel and wood versions to accompany his nomadic muse for spring/summer 2016.
