The documentary examines the turbulent life and brilliant career of the great fashion maestro
The late Lee Alexander McQueen was one of Britain’s most controversially successful fashion designers. Now, eight years after his death, the documentary that chronicles his life is screening in Dubai from Friday, September 28 to Friday, October 5 at Cinema Akil, which is situated in Warehouse 68 in the artistic hub of AlSerkal Avenue.
Directed by Ian Bonhôte and written by Peter Ettedgui, McQueen follows a feature biopic about the designer, who committed suicide back in 2010 in his forties, in his own home in Mayfair, London.
The film details McQueen’s highs and lows, from starting out as a teen apprentice on Saville Row, putting on shows while surviving on government benefits, how he went on to succeed John Galliano at Givenchy, and his years at Gucci.
