When you think of beach club cuisine, your mind starts to wander to bite-size burgers, a side of fries and sushi (if you’re lucky). Yet, Cove Beach's al fresco dining spot, Two.0, offers a fresh spin on French and Mediterranean gastronomy (a step up from the usual order of sliders) that we’re more than happy to leave the sunlounger for.
Despite the relaxed, fresh from the sand feel of the restaurant — with its white washed wood, recycled fishing nets and beach-chic aesthetic — the food carries a fine dining-like flair with dishes including foie gras torchon, seabass carpaccio and oysters from the South of France; an unexpected, yet welcome surprise.
Hidden among three turquoise pools and overlooking an uninterrupted stretch of beach, where the water seamlessly blends into the sky, the restaurant is sat in a idyllic spot for a lazy lunch or a sunset dinner. MOJEH recommends ordering the sautée prawns (with a hint of chilli) to start, followed by the sole meunière (with its fresh, aromatic flavours) or something from the grill (the selection of 28-day dry aged meats proved tender and rich with a unique smokey taste).
If you fancy something sweet, ponder over Two.0's creme brûlée and lemon meringue almond crumble — while sipping on an ice cold cocktail and watching the waves roll in, before taking a post-dinner stroll across the soft sands of Bluewaters island. Although a serene experience from start to finish, elevated by the attentive service and top-notch surrounds, it is worth noting that Cove Beach (which is often a hotspot for jet-setters and Insta-savvy socialites) can transform into a livelier beachside spot come party season. So plan ahead, depending on your mood.
