Bringing the explosive tastes of Shanghai’s culinary scene to Dubai’s DIFC is Shanghai ME, with a carefully-curated menu, stylish interiors and a newly enclosed terrace to see out the summer in
Nestled into the corner of Dubai’s International Financial Center’s bustling Gate Village is Shanghai ME, the city’s most stylish and sense-awakening Chinese restaurant. Transporting guests to 1930’s Shanghai, the city’s golden era, interiors are bursting with luscious flowers set against sleek, minimal ceiling designs while the newly enclosed bamboo filled terrace area mirrors the jungles of South Asia.
The cuisine is inspired by the culinary traditions of East Asia, the precision and practice of delicate dishes that have taken centuries to perfect. While the menu is as generous as it is delectable, the offering is carefully-curated with a simplified selection of small share-style dishes followed by fish and meat for mains (and a side portion of sushi and sashimi for those who are interested).
Signature dishes include the Yellowtail Carpaccio with Sliced Black Truffle, Crispy Duck Salad and Evgeny’s Wagyu Beef Sub, named after the concept creator. MOJEH recommends the Steamed Prawn and Truffle Dumplings, Seared Beef Tataki Salad with Ponzu Sauce and Peking Duck with Chinese Caviar for starts. Followed by either the Triple Cooked Angus Short Ribs, Wok Sweet & Sour Prawns with Peppers or Grilled Silver Cod with Yuzu Miso Sauce. If time allows, arrive early and enjoy a drink on the terrace where interiors escort you to the wild jungles of Asia.
The unassuming vibe (which seldom sits hand-in-hand with fine dining) and smooth service has already attracted Dubai’s most discerning crowd.
