Haute Hangouts: MINA Brasserie, DIFC, Dubai

Michelin-recommended MINA Brasserie serves European fare in elegant surrounds

Though only walking distance from the bustle of meetings, to-do lists and bothersome colleagues in the offices of Dubai’s financial district, MINA Brasserie feels worlds away. In harmony with the aesthetic of its luxurious Four Seasons Hotel address, the award-winning restaurant is at once dazzling and discreet. Light pours into the airy dining room during daytime, illuminating art deco-inspired interiors and providing a relaxed, yet refined lunchtime getaway. Now that the weather is (finally!) beginning to cool, reserve a spot on the terrace to dine alfresco.

Starters are ideal for sharing to ensure you sample everything MINA Brasserie has to offer

A French-inspired menu of brasserie favourites is elevated by Chef Michael Mina using seasonal ingredients and a Michelin-approved, fine-dining flair. The restaurant offers an extensive menu and plenty of business lunch choices, of which Michael Mina’s tuna tartare with habanero-sesame oil; featherlight aubergine mille-feuille; and succulent, perfectly charred grilled octopus are highlights from the appetisers.

Moving onto mains, there are various meat options including chargrilled lamb cutlets and a juicy wagyu burger, as well as fresh seafood and decadent pasta dishes (short rib rigatoni, we’re looking at you). A plethora of wood-grilled steaks are available for carnivores, cooked precisely to your preference and presented either as surf and turf with prawns, au poivre with peppercorn jus, ‘Diane style’ alongside asparagus and morel sauce, or ‘Rossini style’  – adorned with seared foie gras, truffle jus and accompanied by sautéed spinach. Desserts are included in the business lunch menu, and MOJEH recommends not going back to the office without indulging in the comforting apple tart or coffee-rich tiramisu.

If you would rather avoid the business crowd, MINA Brasserie hosts the Urban Chic brunch every Saturday afternoon. The offering kicks off with a combination of signature hot and cold sharing starters for grazing, followed by a choice of main and desserts to share, all washed down with the sommelier’s selection of grape, bubbles and cocktails.
