From artists and performers to curators and collectors, March sees the who’s who of the art world descend on the UAE for Art Week in Dubai – 7 days of exhilarating exhibitions, workshops, performances and talks by household names as well as emerging ones. SIKKA ART FAIR
WHEN: 17 – 26 March
WHERE: Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
WHY GO: In its eighth edition, this contemporary artist-led fair brings together the very best of emerging UAE-based and GCC talents for a 10 day programme. Think exciting art installations, interesting workshops and exhibitions, film installations as well as music performances.
DON’T MISS: Sign up for one of the 40 free workshops ranging from gypsum carving to art therapy and photography; it’ll be hard to pick just one!

ART WEEK AT ALSERKAL AVENUE
WHEN: 19 – 24 March
WHERE: Alserkal Avenue
WHY GO: With a week-long event that promises to be larger than life, this is one art week that never disappoints. 12 contemporary art galleries, a host of pop-up projects and an engaging series of Majlis talks with artists and curators – you’ll have to come back more than once to see and experience it all.
DON’T MISS: Opening night on the 19th – this is when all the galleries come to life, making for the perfect fair-going experience to kick off Dubai’s busy art calendar.

ART DUBAI
WHEN: 21 – 24 March
WHERE: Madinat Jumeirah
WHY GO: With a line-up of artists from 105 galleries from across 48 countries this year’s highly anticipated Art Dubai is definitely the place to rub shoulders with the world’s best emerging artists and art professionals (all the way from Iceland to Ethiopia!). Highlights include the Global Art Forum – the region’s biggest arts conference with this year’s edition “I Am Not a Robot” exploring the power, paranoia and potentials of automation; Art Dubai Modern Symposium – a series of talks and presentations focused on the life, work and cultural impact of 20th century masters; and the Abraaj Group Art Prize.
