We saw it in the cliffside terra-cotta show space of Dior’s Le Palais Bulles, via Palm Springs at Bob Hope’s estate a la Louis Vuitton and along Chelsea’s West 22nd Street that staged Gucci’s New York show – beach hair is back, and it’s back in a big way. The Resort 2016 collections made a case for relaxed, free-flowing tresses that vibed on a carefree bohemian sensibility. The trend arrives at the perfect time for those wanting to achieve ideal summer hair without the upkeep. While sea salt sprays aren’t the most friendly to dry manes, they add excellent volume to even the most limp and lackluster hair. At Dior, stylist Guido Palau let natural air-dried hair do the talking, finished with a mist of shine spray. Louis Vuitton recalled a childlike innocence with simple rumpled waves crafted by stylist, Paul Hanlon (see the flame haired Natalie Westling’s crimped coils for inspiration). Meanwhile Gucci’s upheavel from Milan to New York marked not only a change in location but also a change in aesthetics as Alessandro Michele rebooted Frida’s muse with berets and unkempt hair to match.
