A fresh face with healthy flushed cheeks is the only beauty look to be sporting this January
With so many hybrid products in the beauty world these days, traditional blushers can be easily overlooked. But they shouldn’t, and if you’re after naturally pinched pink cheeks, they are the quickest way to breathe life and colour into tired skin.
We’d even do as far as to say, that when used correctly, a well-placed swipe of blusher has face-sculpting abilities and could easily be considered the make-up equivalent of a non-surgical face lift.
This once OTT 80s beauty trend is being revived in a beautifully minimal, modern way, and is having quite a moment on the SS20 catwalks. Make-up is always pared back for spring summer, but this year it seems all you really need is a flush of blush.
At Jason Wu pretty pink pigments were dusting on cheek bones and eye lids, at JW Anderson beach waves were teamed with barely there make-up, the hero of which was natural blusher. And at Sies Marjan a glossier pink blush was used to add contour and colour to pale complexions.
So from a smattering of peach to perky pinks hues and classic rouge, this is a trend worth investing in. There are so many different options for skin types, too. Powders are best suited to oily skin, and creams and gels for dry skin types.
Here, we’ve rounded up our pick of the best blushers, guaranteed to emulate that natural wind-flushed glow.
