Although fashion month is typically synonymous with bold, statement-making makeup, New York Fashion Week saw plenty of bare complexions and natural beauty looks. The focus was on dewy, real-looking skin, transformed with a touch of mascara or a gently winged liner. Ralph Lauren evoked Girl Next Door with luminous, lit-from-within skin and brushed-up brows, while Simkhai sent Amber Valletta down the runway in an almost completely bare face. The approach mirrors the rising trend of less-is-more makeup, where skin tints, liquid blushes and lip balms are favoured over full beats.

There were touches of glamour, though. Still erring on the natural side, Carolina Herrera centred the models’ beauty looks around winged liner in-keeping with its ‘60s-inspired collection. Elsewhere, Patbo and Badgley Mischka elevated a blush-heavy complexion with a swipe of glitter shadow.

Hairstyles followed the pared-back approach throughout, as many models flaunted slicked-back buns á la the Clean Girl aesthetic - Carolina Herrera’s accessorised with florals, PatBo’s tied in a neat knot. Straying from the sleek, Tibi, Tommy Hilfiger and Jason Wu opted for woke-up-like-this styles that channelled the New York City It Girl.
