Rihanna’s visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi did little to hinder her fashion presence. Dressed head-to-toe in black and sporting a perfect rouge pout, she took the trip as an opportunity to test her posing prowess, creating controversy with her online followers who brandished her disrespectful given the location.

Echoing the late, great Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, Rihanna lounged in a white pantsuit complete with signature Chanel pearl brooches and oversized sunglasses. Just beside her sits a photograph taken of Coco Chanel by Horst P. Horst in 1937.

The ultimate Hollywood starlet, Marilyn Monroe served as sartorial inspiration for Rihanna in this shot of her donning an archetypal Marilyn blonde wig and red lip. Marilyn would later serve as inspiration for the lyrics in ‘Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary’ from Rihanna’s seventh studio album, Unapologetic in 2012.
