This year’s spring/summer couture collection by Ashi Studio creates the perfect blend of dark decadent fabrics and intricate embellishments, merging the world of glamour with an edge. Taking place in a dimly lit hall in Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris, the mood was everything mysterious, aptly mirroring the theme of the collection Velvet Underground.
The looks consisted of voluminous skirts, lacy dresses and dramatic silhouettes which made room for modern interpretation without compromising on the craftsmanship characteristic of Ashi Studio. Deep hues took over the catwalk with the exceptions of white and a vibrant blue, keeping the collection centred on the themes of dark fantasy and dramatic appearances.
Lace is the dominant aesthetic at the beginning of the show, creating a feeling of being delicate and sensual, before transitioning into richer textures including fur coats and gilded ensembles.
Adding to the collection's provocative undertones, models accessorised with glittery cigarettes, a nod to the collection's inspiration from the underground scene. Dog-shaped accessories, perhaps symbolic of loyalty or merely for a touch of the unexpected, were also featured, further blurring the lines between elegance and eccentricity.
