OUR SUMMER VAYCAYS ARE SORTED AS AIRBNB LAUNCHES ITS NEW LUXURY TRAVEL PLATFORM – COMPLETE WITH CONCIERGE, LOCAL GUIDES AND VIP ‘TRIP DESIGNERS’

Sneaking in just before the summer holiday hiatus, and following in the footsteps of bespoke travel companies, like Scott Dunn and Abercrombie and Kent, Airbnb has added a new tier to its travel arm, Airbnb Luxe.

With a view of reimagining luxury travel, the premise is to make it more bespoke, more personal and more accessible. Originally evolving from air-beds and sofa surfing to more upmarket boutique hotels, the extension corners an increasingly solvent luxury market.

Throwing in ‘trip designers’ who will provide deep local knowledge, end-to-end trip planning, a concierge service to arrange you in-house massages or a private chef, and 24/7 VIP support, Airbnb Luxe has clearly done its research and is delivering to the demands of its high-net-worth target audience.

So what do this all mean? Put simply, Airbnb Luxe is adding over 2,000 spectacular new properties to its roster, all aimed at the discerning luxury traveller. From far-flung destinations to design homes that are destinations themselves, to award-winning homes in Cape Town to historic villas in Tuscany, there should be something to feed every wanderlust whim.

Airbnb Luxe’s The Fleming Villa, Jamaica

Where to first? For literary fans, it’s got to be The Fleming Villa in Jamaica – the beachfront home once owned by Ian Fleming and where the author brought to life his James Bond novels. Here you can sip cocktails like Katherine Hepburn and Errol Flynn once did. Or, for something even more unique, how about booking your own private island, one that comes complete with its very own self-declared time zone, at Nukutepipi island in French Polynesia. Curated by Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil, you know you’re in for something special.

Hopefully that’s got you once step closer to having your travel plans sorted? Send us a postcard…
