Dior enlists a female only army of artists to create its next round of Lady Dior Art bags
Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri had one wish for the Dior Lady Art #3 collection: that it be designed by an all female army. 11 artists were enlisted – joining together from all corners including Columbia, France, Japan and Turkey – and the iconic piece was reimagined in various forms.
An iridescent embossed and metallised calfskin version featuring orange-gold metal charms was created by LA based Pae White (featured above). While a mini Lady Dior came to life in gold textured goatskin complete with 24 karat gold plated charms, courtesy of Columbian born Olga de Amaral.
Through its architectural lines punctuated with charms in tribute to the precious good-luck talismans Christian Dior held close to his heart, each piece is its own nod to the late French designer. A MOJEH favourite comes in the form of multicoloured lambskin marquetery featuring hand-painted drawings (featured below). A spectacle of colour and shape in joyous momentum by the American contemporary visual artist Polly Apfelbaum.
