Jennifer Lopez stole the show during the Versace spring/summer 2020 runway presentation, when she appeared on the catwalk in a reinterpreted version of the iconic jungle print dress she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000.
Now — two decades after Lopez first made Versace’s jungle print famous — the star returns to the Versace stage once more, fronting a new campaign captured by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Bringing back the brand’s signature palm-leaf print in a series of updated ensembles, Lopez is photographed in sculptural evening dresses, the Virtus accessories line, and jungle-esque separates.
“In terms of my career, the jungle dress really marked a moment in time. To me, Versace represents empowerment and putting something beautiful out into the world. It’s a dream to collaborate with my friend Donatella again on this gorgeous campaign and to create something new and fresh out of a piece of iconic fashion history,” said Lopez.
The digital-savvy campaign also features an amalgamation of fashion and technology — hinting at Lopez’s ability to cause a social media storm — with the iconic dress and jungle print placed in the internet’s spotlight.
“I am so proud Google Images was invented after Jennifer wore that dress. Today, we celebrate that moment that was possible thanks to this incredible woman!” said Donatella Versace.
Versace’s SS20 campaign also stars Kendall Jenner in a printed palm mini-skirt paired with a matching safari-style jacket and Versace accessories.
Together, the duo create a fresh take on a classic look that is sure to break the internet once more.
