It has been announced that Virginie Viard’s debut 31 rue Cambon 2019/20 Métiers d’Art Collection will travel to London this summer, to be presented in the 19th century Victorian building, Old Billingsgate, on June 4.

First revealed in December at the Grand Palais, the collection paid homage to house founder, Gabrielle Chanel, with iconic embellishments such as the ribbon, the camellia, the double C and  the Chanel N°5 bottles threaded into apparel and accessories.

For the set design, Viard called upon American director and producer Sofia Coppola, to recreate Coco Chanel’s apartment and the couture salons located at the emblematic 31 rue Cambon address.

Decorated in crystal chandeliers and Art Deco style mirrors, the scene was completed by the signature sweeping staircase, in a venue that captured the essence of 31 Rue Cambon — where the first Métiers d’Art show took place in 2002 — the perfect scene for a collection which honoured house codes, but still offered a contemporary twist for the modern Chanel woman.

The 2019/20 collection will be now re-staged during a replica show in London, which enables the British fashion crowd to see the exceptional savoir-faire of Métiers d’art, in a celebration of the exquisite craftsmanship and design.
