Carrie Bradshaw’s signature sapphire pumps got an anniversary makeover
Ten years ago, Manolo Blahnik created the Hangisi for his SS08 collection after finding the dazzling crystal buckle on one of his trips to Italy. They were then made famous when Mr. Big proposed to Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City with a pair of royal blue Hangisi pumps, certifying the shoe’s bridal appeal. Now, Manolo Blahnik has launched their “Decade of Love” capsule collection, a seven-style, limited edition series that pays homage to both Bradshaw’s legacy and the show’s setting—New York City.
While the original shoe was a cornflower-blue pump with a needle-thin heel and a crystal-encrusted square buckle, the updated versions feature a mix of heels and flats in new patterns and designs that refer to the iconic love affair between Carrie and Big. Of course, each design also features the jewelled buckle.
The new Decade of Love capsule collection
In celebration of the new collection and the 10-year anniversary of the iconic Hangisi, Manolo Blahnik hosted a star-studded party at the brand’s boutique in New York City. Guests included Olivia Palermo, Candace Bushnell, Charlotte Groeneveld, Nina Agdal, Gala Gonzalez, Caroline Vazzana, Gizele Oliveira, Theodora Richards, Tali Lenoxx, Matilda Lowther, Sif Saga, Marina Ingvarsson, Mary Leest, Christie Tyler and Krystal Bick.
