Having hosted a number of modern art exhibitions since its opening back in 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has just announced its lineup for the coming year. On display throughout the galleries of the Frank Gehry building from April 11 until August 27, is the highly anticipated new exhibition “In Tune with the World.” With a selection of artists from the collection, across several diverse mediums, the modern and contemporary works on display promise to highlight today’s questions about man’s place in the universe. The theme sets out to explore the different bonds man has with his surrounding environment, in specific the interconnections between humans, animals, plants, and more.

Located on the second floor, Sequence A offers an immersion into the world of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Known for drawing inspiration from his country’s political, cultural and social history, his prolific work will be organized around three different motifs. The first will be solely dedicated to DOB, a character invented by Murakami in 1993 and one considered to be his alter ego. The second will be a fresco entitled The Octopus eats its own leg and depicts characters from Chinese mythology, while the third will feature sculptures, floral paintings and animated films inspired by manga.

Extending over three floors is Sequence B, which brings together 28 French and international artists from various generations and techniques. Here the theme revolves around the idea of emotional affinity, inspired by the assertion of Roland Barthes in La Chambre claire “I have determined to be guided by the consciousness of my feelings.” Visitors will find the itinerary structured around three complementary themes, each presented on a different floor.
