An ode to modern elegance, the latest iterations of Van Cleef & Arpels’ Perlée collection are as striking as they are symbolic
The popular Perlée designs have been a part of Van Cleef & Arpels’ glamorous jewels for well over a decade now, with its famous gold beading a tradition at the Maison since 2008. And while the line has expanded effortlessly over the years, its 2021 iteration is our favourite yet. It launched in April exclusively in the Middle East, two months ahead of the rest of the world, so we can get first dibs.
Comprising three Perlée sweet clover bracelets and three rings featuring scintillating motifs crafted in yellow, white and rose gold, for the first time the shimmering ribbon is enhanced with 10 clover motifs on the bracelet and five on the ring, each featuring a central golden bead surrounded by four round diamonds. Celebrating the precious interplay of light and curves with its dome design and intricate stone setting, they are expertly crafted from the highest quality stones, with diamonds selected according to the strictest criteria: D to F for colour and IF to VVS for clarity. What’s more, each piece fits in perfectly with the ever-popular stacking trend, designed to be teamed with Van Cleef pieces from the Maison’s other collections.
Named after the French word perlé, meaning ‘pearled edge’, past Perlée collections comprise pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings, all with one important thing in common: the instantly recognisable beaded borders that reflect the Maison’s tradition of excellence. With the golden beads worked by the jeweller one by one and then hand polished in a sequence of steps until their surface is perfectly smooth, these latest designs are a more than welcome addition to our fine-jewellery boxes.
