OMEGA Dubai Ladies Classic Promotes Female Golfing

Nov 30, 2017 | 2 min read

In the run-up to OMEGA Dubai Ladies Masters, MOJEH investigates why more women are playing golf.

The perception that golf is an old boys’ club has got in the way of more women joining the game for years. But times are changing, with the National Golf Foundation suggesting women are the fastest growing segment of new golfers.

Once thought of as a sport enjoyed mainly by men, more and more women are becoming interested in the industry. It’s an ideal sport for meeting new people, conducting business and getting exercise, all while enjoying the region’s winter sun.

While women still only represent a small segment of the golfing population worldwide, OMEGA knows that getting more women to play is important. For the ninth time, the watch brand is title sponsor of the OMEGA Dubai Ladies Classic golf tournament. The competition is held in the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, with round one of the four-day tournament teeing off on Wednesday, December 6.

OMEGA has enjoyed some very exciting golfing moments throughout 2017,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of OMEGA. “The OMEGA Dubai Ladies’ Classic is the perfect way to end the year, bringing some of the world’s best female players to the tee. This is their moment to make a final mark on the season and it’s a privilege to be in Dubai to support them.”

The winner will take home a cheque along with an OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M. The 38mm timepiece features a symmetrical 18-karat Sedna gold case with a glittering diamond-pavel bezel. So go ahead, and let’s break the glass ceiling.
