Vacheron Constantin has collaborated with Emirati artist Omar Al Gurg on a meaningful art installation to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan. Omar Al Gurg is the founder of Modu Method, a minimalist décor brand that champions out-of-the-box design, Arab identity and storytelling through modular pieces that evolve over time and he continues to champion his heritage through this luxury collaboration.
The 4-metre-tall installation, titled Among The Pillars, incorporates locally sourced materials to reinforce the Swiss watchmaking Maison's connection with the local community; pillars of plypalm, a new material crafted from sustainable palm tree fronds, represent both the strong roots of the region's heritage and the heritage of timekeeping, as traditional timekeeping utilised pillars to cast a time-telling shadow throughout the day.
DateForm, the world's first date seed-based solid surface, is also used throughout to tie into the installation's connection to the region and Ramadan traditions. The finishing touch? An engraved Vacheron Constantin Maltese cross atop the shorter pillars.
