Bulgari Reveals New Serpenti Watches

Feb 05, 2018 | 7 min read

The new interpretations celebrate Bulgari’s iconic craftsmanship.

The symbol of the serpent has been a source of inspiration for Bulgari for decades, with the brand first making the snake its signature in the 1940s. Having wrapped itself around the wrist of numerous female icons, 2018’s creations are equally distinctive, and feature leather straps, ceramic bracelets, gold chains and feminine structures.

A stunning one-of-a-kind high jewellery creation in white gold, Serpenti Misteriosi pushes jewellery craftsmanship to the very limit, with an entirely renewed take on the Serpenti model. A secret wristwatch, this timepiece features the first ever double-headed snake design and is both feminine and fun in its beauty. A floral motif composed of a two-carat round facetted emerald is surrounded by nine marquise-cut diamonds that dazzle and twinkle in the light. The first head opens to reveal a beautifully-discreet diamond-dotted dial, perfectly finishing a masterpiece that took six months to create.

Available in both white or black, with each model featuring pink gold inserts, Serpenti Spiga coils twice around the wrist, decorating the wearer’s arm with 18-karat pink gold with diamonds. The bezel is set with brilliant-cut diamonds that perfectly illustrate the classically-shaped oval dial, while the crown is set with a cabochon-cut rubellite. Each polished white-lacquered sunburst dial is completed with a Bulgari-personalised high-precision quartz movement.

Serpenti Tubaogas combines three classic gold colours: white, pink, and yellow. This specific combination harks back to the maison’s popular 1960s and 1970s models, which often featured juxtaposed colours. For 2018, each shade has been elevated by light effects, which play across the bracelet, giving admirers the impression that each hue seamlessly merges into one another. The snake’s head in pink gold is accentuated with 38 diamonds and a winding crown, which is decorated with a cabochon-cut pink rubellite. The dial’s black opaline base features a subtle guilloché motif and is enhanced by pink gold hour-markers.

The Serpenti Twist Your Time model is arguably the most traditional out of the latest releases, with a fluid and smooth bracelet that seamlessly slips onto the wrist, making it ideal for daily wear. The sensual gradruple wrap is achieved by supple straps that shimmer with metal accents, subsequently injecting a dose a contemporary sensuality into this Italian classic, which comes in an 18-karat pink gold 27mm case. Available from selected Bulgari Boutiques, each piece's caseback can be engraved and personalised to the wearer's specifications.
