Luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot is celebrating the new year in style with a spectacular diamond-encrusted collection of haute joaillerie timepieces.
When Hublot was founded in 1980 by Italian entrepreneur Carlo Crocco using simple rubber straps, it shifted haute horlogerie’s notion of what a luxury watch should be. Fast-forward 40 years and the luxury Swiss brand is celebrating both its anniversary and the new year with some serious sparkle in the form of a stunning haute joaillerie collection that comes dripping in diamonds.
Hublot’s timepieces have always represented the ‘art of fusion,’ and the latest collection is no exception. What’s more, the luxury brand is considered Swiss watchmaking at its best – a title credited to the expertise of its elite watchmakers. “Setting the stones on a watch is a feat of technical and aesthetic excellence, carefully conceived and determined in advance,” says CEO Ricardo Guadalupe of the brand’s craftsmanship. “The discipline is both a science of absolute precision and an art form, the aim of which is to maximise the brilliance of the stones within the limits of an extremely confined space. Overcoming such tough challenges and coupling tradition with innovation are the driving forces of our ambition.”
Combining the watchmaker’s expert craftsmanship with the extravagance of fine jewellery, Hublot has revealed three magnificent high jewellery timepieces through its 2020 collection: Big Bang Unico High Jewellery, Spirit of Big Bang High Jewellery and Classic Fusion High Jewellery. All three iconic timepieces are created with the most complex and intricate timepiece movements, resulting in exquisite works of art that will be sure to start the new year off with a bang. Spirit of Big Bang High Jewellery
With a design that pays homage to the Big Bang timepiece, the 2020 high jewellery version of the precious piece boasts a total of 346 baguette-cut diamonds – 178 adorn the silhouette of its tonneau case, 113 are set around the edges of the indices and the remaining 55 are found on its elegant alligator leather strap. Its beating heart is the HUB4700 movement, which many consider to be one of the finest Swiss chronographs ever created.
Big Bang Unico High Jewellery
Featuring 334 baguette-cut diamonds with a total of 12.5 carats set on the iconic 42mm Big Bang Unico face and bezel, this elegant timepiece houses an HUB1280 calibre movement complete with brand-new architecture and innovations, including an oscillating second clutch and an adjustable ball-bearing chronograph friction system.
Classic Fusion High Jewellery
The final piece of the collection, the Classic Fusion High Jewellery comes spectacularly set with 427 baguette-cut diamonds totalling 20.8 carats, which mesmerise the wearer with their hypnotic shimmering effect. Featuring an HUB1710 self-winding movement and elegant strap crafted from alligator leather and natural rubber, this is haute horlogerie at its finest.
