Ever since its launch back in the 1980s, Breitling’s Chronomat collection has proved popular among luxury watch aficionados all around the world. This year the brand is reinventing the collection with its first model designed solely for women, which comes endorsed by a powerful gang of fierce female ambassadors: the Spotlight Squad.

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron; ballerina and first African-American woman to become a principal dancer Misty Copeland; and Yao Chen, an award-winning Chinese and film actress; have all been chosen by the luxury brand as inspiring women breaking gender stereotypes in their respective fields, and can be seen modelling the new Chronomat 36 and 32 collection pieces in a selection of stunning images.

“Who better than Charlize Theron, Misty Copeland, and Yao Chen to turn the spotlight on major global causes as they redefine what it means to be a strong woman?” enthuses Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “Three leading stars known for being fierce and pushing boundaries. What binds them together is the Spotlight Squad and Breitling’s dedication to change, diversity, and reshaping the world we live in.”
As for the collection itself, the simple yet statement-making designs makes use of markers rather than numerals, and boast luxe diamond bezels. With 10 options to choose from, case options include stainless steel, 18k gold or a combination of both, and dials for the 36mm include lacquered white, pale green, midnight blue, or copper. For the 32mm, choose from a white or midnight blue dial.

Powered by the Breitling Caliber 10 with a reserve of about 42 hours, these sophisticated timepieces feature Breitling’s iconic Rouleaux bracelet with butterfly clasp and, as always, are COSC-certified, which confirms their exquisite craftsmanship.
What’s more, from early 2021, Breitling will be upping its green credentials with the introduction of a foldable, reusable watch box created entirely from recycled plastic bottles, meaning the box itself can be recycled too.
