With many of fashion’s biggest players from Tommy Hilfiger to Tom Ford reforming their business models for the digital savvy customers, we’re looking at a surge of new technological innovations to support the shift towards direct-to-consumer fashion events. In vein of the spirit of the new concept, Rebecca Minkoff presented a western “gypset” inspired collection called #SeeBuyWear that is available to its customers almost immediately to purchase. Along with many new and old fashion houses, the latest to jump on the revolutionary train is Diane Von Furstenberg, who plans to showcase her collection tonight that allows her global customers to update their wardrobes at the click of a button.

The Star Appeal
Musicians-turned-designers are increasingly proving that they know how to put on a show and get the fashion world’s attention. The world of social media went into frenzy when Rihanna debuted her unisex Fenty x Puma autumn/winter show in extravagant hoodies and eye-catching yellow footwear. Kanye West too in a bid to put on a spectacle, amidst the many controversial happenings of last week, premiered his newest album “The Life of Pablo” and clothing line “Yeezy Season 3” at Madison Square Garden which was broadcasted via satellite in movie theaters around the world. The star value of the shows with the glittering famous faces on-and-off the runway dictated the mood of fashion week.

The Beauty Breakouts
Alexander Wang’s gothic undertones of beauty looks made a quite the statement when the twitter-trending Koren rapper CL replicated the look on the front row with her porcelain complexion and by her white-gray dyed hair, deep oxblood lipstick with a flick of eye liner. A similar punk spirit in makeup was adopted by many shows including Tadashi Shoji and Marrisa Webb who created their own versions of crimson eyeshadows mixed with bold lips.
Overall across the shows in New York, inventive hairstyles have been on the forefront from Jason Wu’s textural take on Forties Hollywood glam waves to A Détacher and Creatures Of The Wind playing with skinny plaits.

The fashion crowd enjoys their share of parties where beautiful people in even more beautiful dresses show up to support their designer friends and good causes. This year’s AmFar fundraiser was as dazzling as it could get where star studded attendees including Lewis Hamilton, Blake Lively and Karlie Kloss joined many of the most celebrated personalities in entertainment to honor Harvey Weinstein. Word on the Street
The freezing temperatures in the big apple did not dampen the spirits of show-goers. The fashionable guests popped on the streets in statement furry coats and bold, color blocked jackets as well as utilizing socks and tights as statement accessories, with intelligent layering key to cold-weather sartorial triumph.
