From the Scandi-born influencer brand, to the label lighting up London and the artful jeweller – these brands are sure to add gloss, glamour and a heady dose of style to your eveningwear repertoire...
Considering they only debuted their first collection last year, this Copenhagen brand has already achieved global fashion notoriety. Set up by Danish influencers Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, Rotate’s cool-girl aesthetic is already a hit with the fashion pack. It focuses on dresses with details like exaggerated ‘80s puffy sleeves, jewel colours and high hemlines. It’s all inspired by pieces the girls would love to have in their own wardrobes.
Set up by British-Italian design duo Marco Capaldo and Kikka Cavensti this London-based luxury label is fast becoming an event dressing favourite. The collections balance high octane glamour with London cool – think sequins, feather details, crystal-embellished denim and thigh-high splits. At the 2018 British Fashion Awards, they dressed the likes of Jourdan Dunn and Edie Campbell, and they’ve since caught the attention of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In February this year, they made their debut on the LFW schedule. Their SS20 collection is a party-lover’s dream.
Bazilian-born Ana Khouri studued sculpture in Sao Paulo before turning her hand to moulding beautiful jewels. She uses 18kt fair-trade gold and platinum, and ethically sourced gemstones such as diamonds and pearls. She officially launched her namesake line in New York in 2013 and has now hit the limelight, gaining global recognition for her contemporary designs and the rich understanding she has of the materials she uses. Some of our favourite pieces at the moment are those inspired by the surrealist Louise Bourgeouis, like the sapphire and diamond Brigid earrings.
Last year, Pyer Moss founder Kerby Jean-Raymond was named winner of the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund. Despite a hiatus last season, Jean-Raymond made sure he came back with all the fashion fireworks for SS20. Pyer Moss’ latest offering continued to celebrate African-American culture and address important social conversations – something the brand is known for – but in amongst those messages and influences were some truly exquisite clothes. Get behind the cause and the clothes.
Scandinavia seems to be the birth place of so cool brands at the moment. If you don’t already know about accessories brand, Wandler, it’s time you did. Founded by Amsterdam-born Elza Wandler in 2017, the luxury leather goods have become instantly identifiable for their geometric shapes – they marry minimalism and modernity, femininity and androgyny. While the bags have already gathered pace on Instagram, we predict Wandler’s Isa square-toe mules will follow suit – they’re currently available in fuchsia and gold as well as a slew of neutral colours. You heard it here first.
