Valentino’s Flouncy Florals (And Rockstud Flats) Are A Guaranteed Mood-Lifter

Oct 04, 2020 | 3 min read

Florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but they incredibly joyous — especially when emblazoned across floaty dresses. For SS21, Valentino embraced bold blooms and paired them with pretty-tough pumps to create a look that is sure to perk-up your mood now, and next season. Here are the looks to take note of

Sprawled across sheer ruffles, floor-sweeping kaftans and brightly-hued maxi dresses, Valentino’s energetic florals were one of the biggest takeaways from creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s SS21 runway show (alongside fluorescent blouses, vintage-washed Levi jeans and crafty lace and crochet). Presented in Milan, in an industrial warehouse filled with botanical plants and flowers, the floral ensembles reflected their surroundings as they drifted romantically across the catwalk to the soothing tune of singer Labrinth’s live performance. An immersive experience for attendees and digital viewers, the show sparked joy and transported the mind to an intimate garden party under the sun.

Revealing next season’s dreamiest pairing, billowing blooms were worn with revived Rockstud flats in complementing rainbow hues. Valentino’s signature, studded shoes were first introduced for spring/summer 2011 and have been repeatedly reimagined ever since. The latest iteration features a pointed-toe with gladiator-esque straps and a flat sole that has go-anywhere appeal. Peeping under easy-breezy dresses painted in petals, the shoe offered an edginess to feminine florals and is primed to be a firm street style favouirte.

Don’t want to wait until next season to wear the trend? Opt for floaty gowns in shamrock green, sunshine yellow or scarlet, teamed with reliable pumps that take you from dawn to dusk. Scroll below for MOJEH's pick of mood-boosting florals at Valentino’s SS21 show.
