Pierpaolo Piccioli proved that love is the universal language at Valentino's Fall/Winter '19 show...
"The people you love become ghosts inside of you and like this you keep them alive”. Those words by Scottish text artist, Robert Montgomery, set the backdrop to Pierpaolo Piccioli’s latest runway show for Valentino.
Held at Les Invalides in Paris, a refined collection anchored in a celebration of colour, love and diversity, unfolded on the runway.
With an injection of emotion that we're accustomed to from the brand, the Fall/Winter '19 collection could easily set hearts aflutter. Brimming with romanticism and poetry by Greta Bellamacina, Mustafa the Poet, Yrsa Daley-Ward and Montgomery, too, it was a clear winner this season.
The first looks sent down the runway saw a merge between poetry, streetwear and the codes of Valentino. Piccioli brilliantly paired airy silk dresses and skirts with trench coats or hoodies, printed with lines of poetry.
In typical Valentino fashion, there was a slew of feminine silhouettes that were interspersed between daring forms. Bold graphics, iconography and powerful poetry animate were evident throughout the collection. Those elements were then complimented by bodacious hues, wispy feathers, lace inserts, sparkling tulle and sequined embroideries.
