According to Paris Fashion Week, this is how we should all be dressing next season
The last on the merry-go-round of fashion month shows, Paris turned out to be a very grand finale indeed. From the live orchestra that set the scene for Valentino’s show to the glittering front rows and the a-list model casts, but nothing could distract from the fashion on the runway.
Scroll down to see the biggest trends from Paris Fashion Week and discover what we will be wearing for autumn/winter 2020 - there’s a look for every occasion.
The catwalks aren’t just reserved for drama and glamour, designers are taking into consideration wearability, too. And what could be more user-friendly that denim?! At Balmain slouchy white jeans and a sweater had us dreaming of casual weekends, at Dior it was double denim and at Celine a simple yet perfectly cut pair of boot-cut jeans were teamed with a frilly blouse and blazer for a 70s feel.
Autumn/winter 2020's smart casual dress code was all about understated hues and ladylike appeal. Chloé’s silk shirt dress would make the perfect throw-on for a lunch date, while Isabel Marant’s white trousers and floral bomber jacket oozed that effortless Parisienne cool. At Hermès, too, a natural colour palette with lemon accents translated into truly sophisticated daywear.
There were so many incredible tailored pieces on the catwalk for Autumn Winter 2020, we’ve been left pining for a reason to invest in a new two-piece suit. Altuzarra gave new life to a grey wool trouser suit with an attention-seeking v-neck, almost-off-the-shoulder jacket. At Dior, black, white and checked versions were peppered throughout the show.
These are the looks that work best in response to an exclusive invite. The fashion forward yet feminine pieces guaranteed to bring light and happiness to your wardrobe. A dusting of florals, a smattering of subtle colours, whimsical prints and romantic shapes make these dresses perfect for an event - think winter weddings, fancy polo cups and exclusive new launches.
Last but not least, we’ve rounded up the shiniest, most show-stopping looks the catwalk had to offer. From the feather and jewel-strewn gown on the catwalk at Elie Saab to Andrew Gn’s metallic knife-pleat dress and boot combo, and Valentino’s red glittering body suit, fashion’s party mood proved as resilient as ever.
