The Mini 'It' Bag Takeover

Shoulder bags, totes and clutches all come in minature dimensions for spring/summer 15

By Jemma Walker

Finally this season has fully embraced the mini bag, and you can’t deny that all good things come in small packages for spring/summer 15 with a plethora of shoulder, clutch and novelty accessories.

Gone are the days of struggling with oversized statement bags, from Fendi’s first little monster on the autumn/winter 13 runway to arguably this season’s most coveted accessory – the Micro Peekaboo – Fendi is leading the way with furry Karl Lagerfelds and lamb leather miniatures. But they’re not alone, we’ve found that the small-dimensioned accessories are fast becoming this year's ‘it’ bags and with so much choice you’ll be stuck between Anya Hindmarch’s novelty Daz embossed clutch and Celine’s structured mini tote.

Micro-Minis

These tiny shoulder bags are card-only, teamed with your lipstick and mobile is there really anything else you need?

Novelty Minis

They’re a street style favourite. A vibrant slogan or vintage print can quickly rocket a clutch to the top of everyone’s style list – with some remaining as collectables for years to come. Although too often a standout piece from popular fashion houses appears in everyone’s wardrobe, thankfully accessories have branched out with a sprinkling of individuality. The Chanel Lait de Coco (coconut milk) shoulder bag emerged from the supermarket era alongside Anya Hindmarch’s Daz, Frosties and Kellogg’s inspired clutches. Dismissing the sometimes-serious nature of fashion, the era of lighthearted, quirky designs has added personality to fashion.

Miniature Signatures

Some classic styles are so timeless they survive season after season, however there are a few designers who have reworked iconic designs into miniature dimensions with adorable results.

Whether you prefer Givenchy or Saint Laurent, make a big statement with a micro 'it' bag this season.
