This is where to buy swimsuits that no one else will be wearing
Instead of following the crowd this summer, up your swimwear game with a stylish bikini or figure flattering one piece from these lesser-known swimwear brands.
After graduating with a degree in fashion design and completing an internship at Marc Jacobs, Araks Yeramyan joined the design team at J.Crew before launching her eponymous lingerie collection in 2000, followed by swimwear in 2013. Born out of a love for art, design and colour, Araks is for the modern intelligent woman who has an eye and appreciation for the finer details but is understated in her approach to style, preferring to follow her own instincts rather than follow trends.

Tahiti born model, swimwear designer, and real life mermaid, Hanalei Reponty was inspired by the idea of bringing function and fashion together into one being when she launched Abysse, a collection of women's eco-friendly wetsuits, bikinis and active wear. Her goal was to accommodate the demand for a sports garment that will be able to remain durable in the water through active lifestyles, yet still be fashionable.

Founded in 2012 in Sydney, Australia, Fella is a fusion between luxury swim, lingerie and active wear. Designers Rosie Iffla and Christine Tang felt the swimwear market lacked a label that was simplistic but sophisticated, so high quality fabrications and beautifully tailored patterns became their focus. They design swimsuits that create support from their construction and are functional from day to night.

Carl Cunow and Nathan Romano co-founded Onia in 2009 and the brand represents their shared interests across travel, hospitality, minimalist design, and sustainable entrepreneurship.
