The trends you need to know from the Dior Cruise 2019 show
Held at the great stables of Domaine de Chantilly, Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior Cruise 2019 was a lesson in equestrian history. Mexican to be specific, as she took the famous Escaramuza female riders and gave them the Dior makeover. The result: a fashion rodeo complete with full riding skirts, folkloric-style embroideries and hard-to-miss wide-brimmed hats courtesy of milliner Stephen Jones. Here are the statement styles that'll have you ready to hop on the saddle and giddy up come next spring.
Fabulous Fabrics
The theme might have been all about the rodeo but the rider’s typical hard-wearing fabrics were guised with pretty delicate tulle, peasant-style embroideries and fabulous lace.
Riding Gear
Think Mexican cowgirl with the extraordinary Escaramuza female rodeo riders as inspiration. Models walked out in full riding skirts, equestrian trousers, rubber boots, and of course, wide-brimmed hats.
Toile de Jouy
In full throttle, our favourite motif swept through the collection taking on every form, from prints to embroidery and even paint!
Waist Game
From nipped-in blazers to wide leather belts that cinched the midriff, it was all about defining the female waist.
The Saddle Bag
With Dior’s recent resurrection of its famous kidney-shaped bag, Maria Grazia Chiuri made sure to wet our palettes with yummy monogrammed and leather versions of the season’s It accessory.
Wide-Brimmed Hats
Forget the horse – it’s time to channel your inner Escaramuza with a hybrid cowboy riding hat courtesy of milliner Stephen Jones.
