Models walked on water in an array of little black dresses under the Eiffel Tower
For his SS19 show, Yves Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello decided to showcase a collection of style classics, including the little black dress and the flawlessly cut suit, against a back drop which included the Eiffel Tower and a line of palm trees.
Citing Seventies It-girl and Yves Saint Laurent’s muse Paloma Picasso as a key inspiration, models splashed along a water-soaked runway wearing a total of 95 looks involving tailored jackets, mini dresses, kaftans, swimsuits, shorts, skirts, knee high boots and dramatic hats.
The house’s famed tuxedo jackets were given a Western style update with studded lapels and Bolero-style embroidery, while luxury hues like gold and silver added a party-like influence to the otherwise sleek pieces.
