Weekend Wardrobes: Power Sleeves

0.5 min read

The new-gen of working women have swapped conventional daywear silhouettes for something far more interesting – the power sleeves.  Not confined to one particular shape these noticeably larger sleeves appear on an array of lightweight pieces in variations that are both effortlessly elegant and party perfect. Here, we show you the three expert ways to master sleeve variations.

Proportion

Historically termed the Bishop sleeve, this particular style is summer friendly in light cottons that also work for winter climes in cashmere and silken wool. It’s all about proportion here, team larger sleeve sizes with slimmer silhouettes or flared trousers for high tea and late luncheons.

Accessorising

A bell sleeve traditionally refers to a shape that is narrower at the top and open at the seams. The elongated structure of these sleeves leaves room for statement accessories; think bejewelled Ciner bangles and  quirky bags in similar colour tones.

Off-Duty

There’s nothing better than off-duty cool pieces that help us attain that enviably nonchalant model look. Thankfully, daywear shirting in cooling colours paired with high jeans makes for just that. A perfect union between cool and chic, remember to keep footwear simple. Ballet flats or tods moccasins are always a win.
