Flower Power

Florals are notoriously celebrated for their diversity and the array of form has continued to bloom from spring/summer and autumn/winter. If Resort 2016 has taught us anything, it’s that the garden continues to grow. From Oscar de la Renta’s strong structured shapes and mixture of prints to Gucci’s sultry sheer powder-blue gown with contrasting embroided blooms – mixed with Alessandro Michele’s geek-meets-chic spectacles – it’s the one trend that’s both adaptable and wearable.

Earn Your Stripes

Think less zebra and more rainbow. The sartorial-savvy minds of fashion have embraced stripes and with quintessential designs that scream summer – you will too.

A Flurry of Fur

Continuing our romance with colour, Resort 2016 envelops fur – and come rain or shine you’ll want to wrap up in one of these statement looks. Christian Dior began the obsession with a mesh dress detailed with red, black and white fur during Raf Simons’ futuristic fantasy. Other designers followed with baby pinks, animal prints and colour blocking – it’s a trend for the brave.

White Wash

Crisp, sharp and classic. Combined with unusual shapes, layered materials and hints of lace – there’s no need for pops of colour with these cultivated ensembles. It’s the mix of revealing thigh slits, sheer mesh and casual jumpers that makes Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2016 collection stand out.

Head-to-Toe Print

Grabbing a statement accessory or slipping into a standout design has long been the go-to approach for an immediate style update. That was until the likes of Chanel and Louis Vuitton rocked the boat. Resort 2016 was the time for daring exploration and the discovery was well worth the risk – the rich treasures of head-to-toe prints in eccentric shades created waves in the fashion world – demure is done.
