We love it when a new ‘it’ bag comes on the scene, and if anyone knows how to imagine an accessory that ticks all the right style boxes, its Maria Grazia Chiuri. Introducing Dior’s new Caro Bag – dressed in soft leather, embroidered with classic cannage stitching and finished with the iconic gold metal ‘CD’ logo, this beauty is set to be elevated to the same iconic status as its predecessors, the Lady Dior and the Saddle Bag, and it’s not hard to see why.
Following a recent pattern as of late, Dior has once again taken us being the scenes with its Savoir-Faire project – a series of making-of videos revealing all the secrets and craftsmanship needed to create its most loved pieces – with this latest video putting its skilled artisans on show, following their journey of turning fabrics, leather and chains into this latest must-have wardrobe addition.
Crafted in the house’s atelier in Italy, we see the Caro bag meticulously created from calf leather, alongside the quilting stage, which alone requires 18,000 stitches to reproduce the subtle geometric wave of cannage.
It really is truly mesmerising to watch.
The latest installment of the house’s accessories collection, which made its debut during the resort 2021 show in Lecce, the Dior Caro may only be available in two sizes, but when it comes to colour hues, styling and customisation, the options are endless.
Choose from timeless neutral shades of black, grey, beige or ivory, as well as lighter more enchanting palettes of ocean blue, mint green and compass rose. The smaller version is available in three exclusive variations enhanced with shearling and raw denim, or punctuated with the hypnotic Tie & Dior, as seen in the 2021 cruise show.
Oh, and there’s an interchangeable shoulder strap that allows you to mix up your look, too.
What more could you want?
