It’s one of the most famous frocks of all time
The Versace pre-fall 19 show took place earlier this week in New York City and Donatella Versace paid homage to the work of her late brother Gianni Versace by sending models such as Emily Ratajkowski, Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber down the runway in a series of nostalgic looks.
While the designer was sure to feature her brother's famous safety-pin dress that Elizabeth Hurley wore to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral, she also showcased an updated version of her iconic "naked" dress that Jennifer Lopez wore to the 42nd Grammy Awards ceremony in 2000. The silk chiffon gown in tropical print with a plunging V-neckline went on to become one of J.Lo’s most famous looks ever. So famous in fact, it was the reason Google Image Search was created.
The updated dress, which features a multi-coloured heart print, embellished clip just below the belly button, and a slightly fuller style, was debuted by model Amber Valletta, who also showcased the original dress on the brand’s spring 2000 runway.
