2021 is already looking up – the first Middle East Fashion Week will be coming to Dubai in spring 2021, with five back-to-back days of scintillating style.
While most details are still being kept under wraps for now, we can expect more than 20 fashion designers displaying their collections through catwalk shows, showrooms, fashion forums and trunk shows. 10 fashion weeks over five years across the region have already been signed with founding partner BurJuman Centre, too, so it already looks set to be the biggest fashion event the region has ever seen.
Speaking about the event, founder and president Antonio Rubel says: “The Middle East is the new fashion capital of the world and we want to shout about it.
“Middle East Fashion Week will be a magnificent concoction of creativity, flair, talent, and energy, showcasing fashion designers from around the world in one stunning location. We have been bringing fashion events to the region for more than seven years now, but this will be like nothing the Middle East has ever seen before.”
As for the man himself, Rubel has been at the heart of the fashion industry in the Middle East for the last seven years, and has organisied nine fashion weeks in Dubai, two Beirut fashion weeks, Riyad Fashion week and two Al Arabia Fashion Days in Moscow. It’s safe to say we’re expecting huge things from his next venture.
Endorsed by the Middle East Fashion Council, the new fashion week will aim to develop up-and-coming fashion designers in the Middle East, establishing and promoting them in international markets, as well as bringing international brands to the Middle East. It also has a strong focus on sustainability, cultural diversity, creativity, and integrity, further strengthening its position on the international fashion scene.
