It seems as though the Emmy Awards just happened. Best dressed, history-making wins, The Bear sweeping nominations - haven’t we been here before? Well, yes. The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards took place in January 2024 rather than its scheduled September 2023 slot due to the months-long writers strike that shut down Hollywood. However, it is back to business as usual for the 2024 awards season.
Sweeping the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards was Shōgun, a drama set in feudal Japan, which took home 18 awards (out of 25 nominations) and set records for the first non-English language show to win Best Drama and the most wins by a show in a single season. The Bear, a consistent award-winner, also broke records, as its 23 nominations made it the most-nominated comedy in Emmy’s history.
In keeping with history-makers, Jodie Foster won her first-ever Emmy Award thanks to her role in True Detective: Night Country; Only Murders In The Building star Selena Gomez became the most-nominated Latina producer in Emmy history; and Shōgun’s Anna Sawai is officially the first person of Asian descent to win the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Though the Emmy Awards are about celebrating achievements in television, we can’t help but celebrate the best in fashion, too. Here, MOJEH rounds-up the best-dressed celebrities of the night.
