"It is a great honour to be joining the House of Givenchy. It is a jewel."

The creative director shuffle continues - are you keeping up? News broke last week that Haider Ackermann had been appointed creative director of Tom Ford and now Givenchy has named Sarah Burton as its new creative director. Burton will be responsible for the creative direction of womenswear and menswear for the House, effective immediately, and will present her first collection in March 2025.

"It is a great honour to be joining the beautiful House of Givenchy, it is a jewel," said Burton in a statement. "Her unique vision and approach to fashion will be invaluable to this iconic Maison, known for its audacity and haute couture," echoed Sidney Toledano, Chairman of the Givenchy board.

Sarah Burton made her mark on the industry as an integral part of Alexander McQueen; she joined the House in 1996, later serving as Head of Design in 2000 under the founder himself before eventually being appointed creative director in 2010. What's more, Burton designed HRH The Princess of Wales' wedding dress in 2011 and was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) the following year. She parted ways with the House in 2023.
